THE BUILDING

Construction technic - Besides the perfection of the works of art and of the finishes, there is a modern building technique applied to the whole structure. Designed only three years after the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower, in which the use of steel was confirmed in civil construction, the building presents a bold metallic structure in the roofing. Such a structure is indicated as one of the reasons for the integrity of the works during more than a century, although nowadays infiltrations are observed because of metal corrosion.

The technological solutions found in order to provide a pleasant temperature inside the building are impressive. Natural ventilation is provided through skylights and chimneys coupled to the main lamps, which become escape flues for the hot air. The air goes toward the roofing, being liberated through ceramic tiles with openings. On the other hand, great windows allow entrance of fresh air.
