RESTAURATION AND USE PROPOSAL
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transformation - In order to maintain the life of the protected monument, the restoration project aims at the adaptation of the building to other functions relative to its historical course. This way, besides recovering its original form, the building has new uses: it is transformed into a modern cultural center, completely dedicated to the public, which is able to enjoy their historic building.

On the ground floor, the central great hall houses temporary exhibitions on a side and a library on the other. The exhibited works of art benefit from free voids, making the space more versatile and able to receive well objects, either bigger or smaller.

Also on the ground floor, a museum of the Electoral Justice is installed, which tells the history of democracy and voting in Brazil. The starting point is almost as old as the arrival in 1500 of the Portuguese Cabral in the "Land of the True Cross": the year 1532, when the first election was held in the territory of the Portuguese America to elect the Town Council of Saint Vincent, in fact the first vote in the Colony.
