Purpose of the visit
To get to know the Brazilian electoral system, particularly the electronic ballot box. The UN looks for efficient electoral projects that may be used by its member states. According to Carina Perelli, Director of the Electoral Assistance Division, the Brazilian model has drawn attention because of the continental dimension of the country, which has more than 100 million voters going to the polls with a secure system and a low cost technology.
